Where does anything start? In the beginning of course.
We know that the earth was created in the beginning. This was the same time baseball was created. It’s documented right in first one of Genesis. In the Big Inning God created the heavens and the earth. Baseball goes back a long way, but I bet you didn’t know it went back that far.
The beginning of anything is taken very seriously because once you start something and the foundation is laid it can’t be changed unless you blow it up and start all over again. Who wants to do that? Not me. When beginning a new project make sure it is started correctly and do it with Yahweh’s guidance.
Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
When I was in the Navy I sailed aboard the Spruance Class Destroyer, USS Ingersoll DD-990. When we were underway I spent a lot of time on the bridge, because it was one of the more interesting places to be. The movement of the ship is controlled from there and is manned 24 hours a day while underway.
The best place to observe what was going on and not be in the way was next to the Quartermasters chart table. The Quartermaster was responsible to chart the course of the ship. The whole time I was standing there he was making plots on the chart. I asked him why so many plots. If he didn’t plot the course on a regular basis, if the ship got off course one degree could take the ships hundreds of miles away where it needed to be to get where it was going.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
We’ve all heard this from our parents or said it to our own children. This scripture is telling us to set our children’s course in the ways of the Yahweh and then like my quartermaster friend who keep a vigilant watch to insure the ship is still on the right course. As life advances it is the job of parents to insure our children courses continue toward a life in our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus).
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Yesterday I was on a construction site and was watching an electrician digging a ditch for a conduit he was running for my speaker cable for the drive thru speaker post. For no reason he stood up and said “I’m 47 years old and the older I get the smarter my father gets and the more I realize what he was telling me to do was true. He told me to go to college and I never did.”
Proverbs 13:1-2 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. 2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth:
Proverbs 15:5-6 A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. 6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
That man could’ve lived a better life if he’d listened to his father’s instruction instead many years later he is digging ditches and living a hard life.
It is important how we begin and how we travel down the road of life. If you’ve drifted off course and feel like you’re a million miles from nowhere ask Yahweh to correct your course and make things right. It might take some time, but He is faithful to guide you to where you need to be.
