Spiritual Significance of Cinnamon in the Song of Solomon
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. — Proverbs 7:17
The primary root of the word “cinnamon” means “emitting an odor,” while spiritually it speaks of holiness and set-apartness. In the Song of Solomon, cinnamon grows in a locked garden that Yeshua calls “my sister, [my] spouse” (Song of Solomon 4:12-14).
For every new believer, the heart is a fragrant garden, enclosed and set apart for Him alone. We must allow the Father to form and shape us into the image of Him and share the heart of the Lord that is undivided in devotion to Him.
Thanks be to God, who always leads us triumphant in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God (2 Corinthians 2:14-15).
